In this article we take a look at what problems are most common in roller shutter doors.
Good industrial roller shutter doors are a highly beneficial addition to the safety and security of any business, whether the setting is industrial or something else entirely. This is, primarily, because they offer a physical barrier between the valuable goods within your premises and the potential dangers which lie outside of them.
What are the most common problems with roller shutters?
So, as you can imagine, it’s extremely important to make sure that your roller shutters are working correctly. While our roller shutters are as reliable as they come, all shutters face problems from time to time. In this article, we will take a look at some of those problems and list some of the fixes, too.
Power Source Problems
This may seem like an obvious one, but it’s surprising how many people fail to check the power source of their electric roller shutters when they are experiencing a problem. So, before inspect the door itself, always check the power source. Is it turned on? If so, then you can be secure in the knowledge the problem lies elsewhere.
If your electric roller shutters aren’t working but the power source is definitely turned on, then there could be a number of potential issues here.
If you have been using the shutter frequently in a short space of time, you might find that the motor has overheated. If so, the best thing to do is to leave your roller shutter for awhile and give it time to cool down. After an hour or so, try again – it should work!
Slow, Bumpy Movement
If your roller shutters are opening but not doing so in a smooth manner or at the desired speed, don’t worry, this problem is known by many.
Firstly, you will want to inspect the tracks and the rails for any sign of dirt or debris. We wouldn’t suggest attempting to fix the problem yourself, however; leaving the job to professionals who will carry out the fix safely is always the best idea.
Dents, Dings & Damage
If your roller shutters are in a factory or a similar industrial setting then, unfortunately, dents and dings will be common, especially if vehicle traffic is high.
Small bumps might be able to simply be knocked out but if you’re not confident, don’t hesitate to get in touch with a professional maintenance team. Most of the time, you will find that this sort of damage is only superficial and won’t the functioning of the door, but it’s always best to get these things checked out!
