Summary - A single specimen of an asymmetrical, face fixed, un-insulated, steel rolling shutter door-set has been subjected to a test in accordance with BS 476: Part 22: 1987, Clause 8 to determine its fire resistance performance, The specimen was face fixed to a masonry wall construction provided with an opening 2450 mm high by 2445 mm wide such that the barrel assembly faced the heating conditions of the test
The rolling shutter door-set consisted of 0.9 mm thick galvanised mild steel horizontal laths with their edges rolled such that adjacent laths interlocked to form the shutter curtain. The shutter curtain was supported from a mild steel barrel. Each vertical edge of the shutter curtain was contained within a mild steel vertical guide consisting of two galvanised mild steel channels. For the purpose of the test the barrel cover casing was included.
At the start of the test, the door-set was in the fully closed position.
The specimen satisfied the performance requirements specified in Clause 8 of BS 476: Part 22: 1987, for un-insulated door-sets, for the following period:
Integrity : 240 minutes
The test was discontinued after a period of 240 minutes.
